I mean, no matter what the causes are for you to commit suicide? what if you die to save a bigger group of people, like for example, placing yourself in the way of a bullet.
Or what if you live your life to help others, and one day you just decide to take your own life?
Doesn't make sense you go straight to hell for commiting suicide if you're good at heart.

No body goes to hell. Suicide is oke for one time, repeat offenders should be punished.

Nope, suicide is not an unforgivable sin cuz those who commit the bad kind of suicide are often too emotional and must have gone through some really terrible things in life. Stress also plays a major part in these things (yes, even helping others all the time can cause this)

Also, the things you mentioned like getting in the way of a bullet to save people isn't really suicide anymore...

but self-sacrifice

Jumping in front of a bullet to save someone else is not suicide!

The whole belief originated with Catholicism, where sins needed to be confessed to a priest. If one committed suicide, they could not go through a priest and therefore died with an unconfessed sin on their soul.

Many Christians don't believe this any more... there's vague at best scriptural support for it. But Christianity isn't based on works by any sense of the word, so the whole "live your life to help others" argument is irrelevant.

"Good at heart" has nothing to do with it. The Bible states you must have faith that Jesus is the son of God and repent (the hebrew translation for this means change of direction). So feeling bad about something you did and asking for forgiveness is not enough- you must change direction. In other words, stop sinning. Years ago, I was very depressed and suicidal and I found a bible verse which stated suicide was the unpardonable sin and those that took their own life would go to hell. My FAITH in that verse saved me- I made a drastic change in my life that frankly scared the *%$! out of me and put my faith in God. Today I am happier than I've ever been in my life. God has helped me grow beyond that point.
"what if you die to save a bigger group of people, like for example, placing yourself in the way of a bullet. "- this is not suicide, this is martyrdom. Martyrs save others at the expense of themselves. 11 of Jesus' 12 disciples did this so that WE may be saved by their spreading the Word of God. Please don't throw their sacrifices away by ignoring God's will.
"Or what if you live your life to help others, and one day you just decide to take your own life?" Why would anyone do this? People commit suicide because they are depressed and don't believe they will get any better- people don't "just decide" to take their own lives. People who are depressed enough to kill themselves are not going to be "living their lives to help others" either- major depressive episodes are marked by lethargy. That doen't mean they've NEVER helped others, but as I said not everyone with a good heart will reach heaven.

friend,

Yes , for what ever reasons a human being shall not commit suicide.
It has been said that it the worst sin .

One has no authority to end his or her life forcibly. The natural end comes surely. One has to pray God for solace and live till the end.
After darkness light surely comes. After miseries certainly there will be happy days.
Life is too small to be little that is Life is so small that it can not be little. So you should not encourage in anyway the termination of ones life by himself, that is suicide.

There is nothing in Scripture to prove that suicide is an unforgivable sin.

There is only ONE such sin and that is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

If a person commits suicide, its more like "Self Murder" and it is still a sin, this is something that you can never ask forgiveness of because you are already dead.

I never understood how suicide got such a bad rap as a horrific sin.

If you work on a suicide hotline for a week, you'll realize that suicidal people aren't sinners, they're just desperate people who think they have no options left.

suicide is a forgiveable sin depending on the circumstances and how you lived your life and served others before hand. you are judged not by one action but by everything in your whole life
