And I'm also wondering if they'll lose their own lives if they refuse to take up arms for the cause of God when the official battle cry really does go out.

There is no danger in that, because they don't use their mind at all. It is a mindless existence. They are like sheep following their evil master. Evil masters have no need for a mind either. They are possessed by paranoia of global knowledge and personal power ( without any education, but the Holy Bible ). BTW, most of them have criminal past, long imprisonments ( that is where the hate for the law comes from ) and past drug addictions. Why don't we ask the question: why we should listen to that person and his rumblings about God, when he spent his entire life being a grave sinner against Jesus and the law. What makes him exceptional enough to teach you anything at all? Do you know, that people with criminal record have a very difficult time finding any job? So these slick operators study a bit of Holy Bible and become all powerful masters of your souls. A very lucrative career move, if you ask me. You are better people and better Christians, than your leaders are. Start using your brain and find a better place to communicate with God on God's terms and not in the pits of paranoid hell of power hungry criminals.
