All the photography magazines publish Buyer's Guides. Buy a copy of one that is reviewing cameras (they also have ones for lenses.) Study it. Read the comparisons and make notes.

Decide what it is you will be using the camera for. List the features that will allow you to best accomplish what you want to do photgraphically.

Choose the camera that best fits your needs and buy it.

Anything under 4megpix, because the pictures will lack clarity when they are enlarged.
