I recently became the owner of a male puppy I named, Tank. The vet said he was an American Bulldog, but I've never seen a black American Bulldog. Any help would be great.

He looks like a pit bull or Staffordshire terrier to me,but he could be a mix.I've never seen a black American Bulldog,either.
I found a website with black ones,but they all seem to have white markings,so I don't know.Check it out.

You're right. It is not breed standard for an American Bulldog to be black. Mind you, some colors do happen(i.e. Merle Great Danes) that aren't standard.

I'd say he's either an American Bulldog mix, an American Pit Bull Terrier mix or American Staffordshire mix. It's very difficult to tell unless you know the line that the dog came from. He's very handsome though and I'm sure, as long as you raise him well and I'm sure you will, he'll be a great dog.
Also, I adore the name!

Hmm more than likely he is an American Bulldog if the vet said so....
But if not he could be a mix between a pit and lab..( My sister owns a mixed breed of pit and lab and he has a wide jaw like yours and also has lock jaw)

Sorry I really don't know much about bulldogs, but I really wanted to say OMG SO CUTE!
Personally I would have wondered if it was a Mastiff? That said it's not really wrinkly enough.

If the vet said he's an american bulldog... he looks closer to a staffy to me.
He is gorgeous no matter what he is.

Yes, i think it is American Bulldog.
But it also look like a mix with lab.. but you have to know until it fully grow up..
Anyway it look really cute and hamson.. the way you took the photo for him..

I'm sorry I cant help, but please just look at that face! I want to take him home. I'd say he could be Am Bulldog, or maybe Am Staff. Too cute for words either way!

staffiture terrier kinda looks like it but also could have a bit of pit in him or bull dog hes a cuty!
