Well anytime you stop excercising you are not burning calories. But it does not necessarily mean you are going to gain weight eating the right amount of calories needed will maintian your weight, but eating to many calories and not burning enough will mean you'll gain weight.

My brother was once a gym addict. Every free time he had,he spends it going to the gym but when he entered college life, he stopped to going to concentrate on his studies. And yes, after that, he had gained so much weight. And they have explained to him that it is because there is no enough exercise that he is doing that will consume the energy produced by the food he is taking in not like when he is still going to the gym that the energy is burned by the exercises he's doing in the gym. That unconsumed energy is the one that makes you heavier than before. If you don't want to gain weight, then I suggest you should not stop going to the gym

If you stop going to the gym, you will not gain weight if you eat less. The only thing that matters is the balance between intake and consumption. So if you consum less than before, you should take less than before too. That it!

If weight is the problem, you can always eat less bad food and eat the right kinds of food in moderation.

You should plan on .5 to 1.0 hours of aerobic exercise 5 times a week if you want to optimize your health. I suggest that you make it part of your daily routine.

Your health is worth it and you will feel better and be more alert mentally. Search for "aerobic exercise" for details.

The thing is, If you are active and then become "inactive" well then the weight just seem to show up! It's not fun, but you can always get active again. If you stop working out, you have to watch the calorie intake!

if you eat more calories than you burn, yes. It's good to take regular exercise for as many years as you can manage and stay active in old age.
