Suppose a person is asking for serious personal advice, there are always some people who take a completely, uncaring negative point of view and hurt the questioner.

For instance, I read a question where a person was asking for serious advice because his son came crying home wounded with bruises. Most of the people immediately offered positive helpful advice, but two or three people responded very negatively with responses like "you are a fool to believe your son's tall stories", or like "nobody cries for such sissy incidents" or like "your son could be possibly making up the wounds himself" etc.

Why do Yahoo Answerers take pleasure in writing stuff like that? I agree that criticism can be helpful, and sometimes turn out to be true. But can't people express their criticism in a polite and respectful manner - something along the lines of "I don't want you to feel bad, but i think your son is at fault..." or like "No offense to you, but.....think about it"

The vast multitude of questions on yahoo answers can be solved with even the slightest exertion of an average human being's brain power. Because this fact is ignored so often, the logical response to the majority of questions always seems to be "you're a ******* retard how could you not know this," or something along those lines. If people learned to use search engines, and saved live support websites like yahoo answers for truly ambiguous questions and important issues, this problem would not exist.

It's the simple equation:

"Normal Person" + "Internet Anonymity" = "Fvckwad"

There are bored people out there with nothing better to do than post derogatory comments in a pathetic effort to rile someone. They don't know the person they're replying to on a personal level and also know that no one will ever find out anything personal about them. They are able to post such material without accountability and are therefore free to say whatever they want for the sake of their own entertainment.

I am a very biased basher...it all depends on the question.

If it has anything to do with a minor child being hurt like in the example you gave, I turn real f*ckin' serious real damn quick. If it has anything to do with anything I know about, like maybe, for example, "I found a pill in my son's dresser drawer, it's oval shaped, white and has 05mtgd638 on it, what is it?", I'll answer it because I'm a pharmacy tech.

If some dumb bimbo says she wants to pierce her nose herself and she wants advice on how to do it...well, I'm a certified piercer by night, and if she mangled the hell out of her nose without me telling her WHY it is a bad idea, then I'm gonna feel bad for not sharing my info with her.

But some of these questions are screaming out to be made fun of...like the twits on her asking "Am I Pregnant?" COME ON, no one on Y!A is going to give you the answer you want to hear on that one! Get a pregnancy test, it's common sense! It's a wonder some of these girls knew how to get pregnant in the first place, for real!

Some people may see it as a joke...and they may be right. I've asked silly questions for fun and gotten serious answers. And I've wondered...how could anyone have possibly taken THAT seriously???

Aside from that, there are all types of people out here. If you're asking strangers on the internet for advice, you should probably expect a jerk or two to respond.

Yes, you're right. I have also encountered people like that who took my answers so lightly... But I guess, those people are only trying to balance the nature of answers, don't they? I think it would appear dull to see answers which are all very serious. I think those people think that it would be a lot better if there are funny answers to wind up the asker. But in a larger sense, they are still not doing the right thing...

Because not everybody is as nice and polite as you. There are a lot of nasties out there. It takes all kinds to make a world, but I agree with you, the nastiness in some of the answers and many of the baited questions is unnecessary.

also say things like get an education as opposed to answering the question. best to avoid questions if not sure what to say. when advice is asked have infromation then can say it. noticed pitcture on a question about special olympic athlete in which someone compared the capacity of the athlete to that of having an argument with a religious person. they then said like the athlete you cannot win.

I agree! It makes me sick to see people enjoy kicking others while they're down. It won't ever be something like you would understand because the way those types of people think is completely foreign to people with loving hearts. Those people have major issues with themselves and somehow it makes them feel better to take it out on others. Sad, but true.

In my opinion I think it's just that some people are evil. They somehow feel good about themselves by putting others down, or try to be funny or what not.

Another thing we should consider is that this site is globally accessed; therefore, there's a lot of immature people who can voice their simple minded opinions.

Peace. Love. Harmony.
