Just keep in mind that if you change the registration to list you self as the sole registered owner of the vehicle, you become legally, and financially liable for any damage your boyfriend does if he is driving the car. And you know he's going to be driving it. Love is "blind", enter at your own risk.

You can make arrangements (through the lienholder) to get the title in your name. If your BF lost insurance from bad driving incidents, do not let him drive the car as you will be responsible.

Hmm not sure where you live. WHO says you have to send your plates and licence to them? As fairness dictates and as i understand it. You can own a car if your licence is supended you just can't/shouldn't drive it. No state in the US would refuse to take your money to reguister it with you as the legal/ registered owner. Just make sure your man is insured to make the dealer happy and keep up the payments.. But if thats true you live in a really messed up state. Maybe they just want you to comply by filing the right papers and are trying to scare you into getting it done.

You would have to call the Lienholder to be sure. Personlly though, if this is just your "bf" I wouldnt want to get involved financially with anything yet, what if you break up? Then guess what, you may get stuck with the bill and possibly get your credit ruined.
