I am designing an LED lamp and I know that I want it to provide a lux range of 10-300 (so it can be a task lamp that dims to become a nightlight). But how does this translate into wattage? What wattage LED bulbs should I use?

LEDs have specs for both luminance (measure usually in nits, or flambers or even lux) and wattage.
So, pick the LEDs based on luminance and then you will get your wattage.
