That gets you through to Registrar stage.

Then you have some more years as a paediatric registrar (3-5) depending on US or UK or Australian college and specialties and then once you've passed everything you get to be a consultant and start making the dough.

Dunno the consultant salaries, sorry.

Pediatricians are generally on the low end of the salary range of all the different specialties. (From my research). The salary depends on where you work, though. And yes, that plan sounds about right-generally. You may do well in school and get into med school early, or you may have trouble and take longer. Just depends on you.

That's the correct sequence for the US.

Pediatricians don't make a lot of money - they're not in a high risk specialty. In general, the more risks you take with people's lives, the more money you make.

If you're going into medicine for the money, you'll be miserable. If you're doing what you love, then the salary isn't important.

As ANY kind of doctor, you won't starve.

Peds probably makes $130-$150K a year. Yes that is a good amount of money and you will be comfortable.

However, balance that with the fact that you will more than likely be $100K in debt after medical school.

You've got several good answers here. Nobody goes into pediatrics for the money. Remember, too, night and weekend call in more onerous than many other specialties, and much of the "on-call" work is not remunerated.
