Hi,
I bought a second hand toyota corolla. When I have my keys in on position it shows the check engine light in yellow. If I start the car, it goes off. What does it mean. It never glows when the car is running.

It comes on as part of a test sequence. It comes on so that you can see the light is working, and it tests itself also.

If you turn the key on and you do not see the check engine light, have it checked. May have a bulb out and you could miss an important problem with your engine.

check engine light
it could be the gas cap is looses
it could be the sensor is bad
you can disconnect the battery for a few minutes
then reconnect and see if the problem goes away
if these quick fix do not work, take to a dealer

Most cars hazard/warning lights come on temporarily as the car warms up. As long as the light does not stay on, there is nothing to worry about.

That is normal... when you start your car it is kind of like a test of the warning lights/trouble signal.

Point is, do not worry about the light,-UNLESS it come on while driving OR if it does not turn off.

Enjoy your ride!

That is part of the diagnostic working.

Don't worry about it.

Of course, you could go to the Car Talk web site. That's always a gas.
