You can buy a rifle or shotgun at the age of 18. You can buy a handgun at the age of 21.
Mike b is right. You can buy a .22 rifle, but not a .22 handgun.

Yes you can buy a rifle or shotgun. the Federal law states you must be 18 to buy long guns and 21 to buy handguns. the store has no effect on the law, and the states cannot do anything about these laws, its a federal law.
