I posted this as an answer to someone else's question, but I thought I'd ask it here, since I'd like an answer. I really want to know if I'm wrong. Thanks! :)

Religion, even the word, makes my skin crawl and my hair stand on end. The war is on between so called good and so called evil and everyone's taking sides. This can only lead to one thing. One thing that they all want- the end of the world. Well, the way I see it, if you want peace, stay out of the battle. If you want war, take sides and get bloody. All I can say, is religion's not my idea of positive thinking. It's mass hypnosis and it's dangerous.

On CNN's 'God's Christian Warriors' tonight, it was stated that moderates are now the target of these extremists. Moderates are just here- we don't take sides, we don't get bloody, we keep our mouths shut and stay out of the battle. Well they want warriors! How can there be armageddon without EVERYONE involved?

I want peace. U?

I know exactly how you feel. I was watching the same program on CNN tonight, and it disturbed me just as much as last night's program about Muslim Warriors... For some reason, I always thought that extreme behavior is only possible among deprived people in 3rd world countries. Because there is a fertile ground for power hungry leadership to spread their malice, as long as it was generously seeped into religious misconceptions: people wouldn't know the difference. How wrong was I! This could and does happen right here in the middle of our beloved country. The BS chanting, the hysteria... and there are no questions asked: did people forget how to read Bible on their own? Why do they need a translator? Isn't it printed in English? We, intelligent people of the world should stop them now, before it is too late.

Those who want power and wealth will use any tool at their disposal, as soon as people learned to communicate there probably was some idiot who invented a religion as a reason people should put him/her in charge. Thomas Paine summed it up as that religion is good which teaches man to be good. Jesus Christ didn't lead armies to slaughter others, overun and conquer countries, etc. I consider it a good religion, that doesn't mean anyone who calls him/herself a Christian represents the rest of them, it may just be what sells in the room they are playing to. God created the universe and everything in it, it's up to God then to destroy it, or it's occupants, when people start doing that then they are playing at being God, something most religions supposedly frown on. So the bottom line is that it's primitive human behaviour to rob, rape and kill others because your group is better than theirs, not a "religion".

sheesh. I thought "warriors" when applied in a religious context meant a really good theological discussion. Most religious warriors are ready to die for what they believe is right, but on the other hand, the peace that is required of them puts them in a conundrum. So they should be ready to die, but on the defense, not the offense. For instance, the Rosary is often called a Scourge of the devil, for it is by prayer that this weapon's powers are released, in order to bring about a good for all and protect the weak. So a militant prayer life means one where you pray until it hurts and you can't tell anyone about it either. The more torture you invoke upon yourself for the sake of others' salvation, the better.

I did not see the CNN show though. You shouldn't watch anything so upsetting.

War requires hostility from two sides. Genocide requires it from only one.

If the choice is between war and peace, choose peace. If it is between war and genocide, choose war.

There are many instances in life where choosing to be a pacifist is the wrong decision.

Armageddon does not require the involvement of everyone. It only requires that people who do not want it remain pacifists instead of doing something to stop it.

Peace is always the goal. Myself, I try be moderate as much as possible. But moderate implies a "middle of the road" position. Most people get run over there.

Yes, I'd love to see someone declare peace instead of war or hatred; the problem is, war and hatred sell. Peace and freedom and love-don't.

Yes, you are wrong. Mass hypnosis? You disregard others peoples experiences that cynically. Your are greatly misguided and misinformed. Thanks to CNN and Amanpour and their attempt to lump all religious belief into one group, BUT simultaneously promote liberal (feed-the-poor-but-don't-fight
immorality) Christianity. You can't be that easy to fool. Or can you?
The misrepresentation of Conservative Christians is CNN's m.o. They heightened this campaign to paint conservatives in a negative light after they couldn't get Kerry elected in 2004.

ANY motivated voter should be voting in line with their belief system. For a Christian to "check his beliefs at the door" is a preposterous proposition. Anyone who suggests such a thing is stupid.

God made man, man made religion. All religion is just one mans interpretation of the word of god.Think if 5 good men+women witness an accident then are split up,they will all give slightly different versions of the same thing. that's all religion is! I think gods message+desire is try to be nice to each other!

Religion is like L.S.D.

It's very good when used correctly, and can lead to a new experience....

but used incorrectly, it leads to delusion and terror, and causes suffering.

Most so-called "christians" don't actually read the bible. Jesus was a complete pacifist, and let himself be nailed to a cross.... all he did was cry a bit... (father, why has thou forsaken me?!?!) there was no fight in him.. no kung fu....

Anyone owning guns is NOT a christian. Anyone supporting war is NOT a christian. Anyone supporting violence of any sort is NOT following what Jesus said in the bible.

I'm not a christian, but at least i read the damn book, and respect Jesus for what was written.....

i think if you do not come to an undertsnading of what you believe, you will just be in the middle of the road and if you stand in the middle of the road you get ran over. I think you need to work out what you believe so then you can live accordingly

I watched the CNN program tonight. Religion is man's way of trying to please their gods and control other people with rules and doctorines. Jesus is not a religion. He is a personal relationship that God wants us to have with His Son, Jesus Christ. Yes, it will be religion that causes the end of the world between Israel and their enemys.

This is the war that God is talking about for Christian Warriors found in Ephesians 6

The Armor of God
10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Many who are not believers think that we are fighting AGAINST them. This is not true. Christians are fighting FOR Christ and His principals of loving God and loving others. We must stand up for Christian principals for ourselves and our children.

I believe that Armegeddon will be fought after all of the Christians are gone. And sorry, there will never be peace again on this earth.

I will say one more thing about war. It is true that Christians must not start wars or entice others to do so. However, when terrorists come into our United States of America, into our homes, then we must protect our home and our families from them. We can not just stand by and allow them to attack our people and not stand up to them or they will be back full force.
