Ok well my new job that I'm working at is also my first job. I have been scheduled to work 47 hours in the next week and three days, but I am a high school student and I'm and just being trained. This is my very first week at any kind of job and they are making me work 47 hours...I talked to some of my friends and the hours that are given to high school students at their jobs are 15-30 hours, and 30 and up is usually given to full time employees.
When I applied for this job I said I wanted to work part time on the application, and I really don't think its fair that they are giving 47 hours while I am training.
Do I have a right to complain? Or would they be mad and fire me?

And also, since I checked off that I would only be available for part time, is it even allowed of them to schedule me for more than full time employees usually get? My sister works there too and she gets 20 hours which I consider much more fair for high school student.

I feel like they are taking advantage of me because I am "young and dumb" so to speak lol. I get flustered trying to learn everything and then be working long shifts every single day of the week.

check local employment laws where you work - do a google search or something - but usually if someone is under 18 I think, or a full time student - they have to be limited to part time and 47 hours/week is overtime!
By law I don't think they can schedule you for more than 4 hours on a school day or something anyway - but it's been a long time since I learned this stuff, so check with your local government.

Good grief, yes it's too much! Depending on your age and where you are, it might not even be legal. Say something as soon as possible to your boss. If they fire you, you'll find another job - if they'd fire you for complaining about that, do you really want to work there?
That said, you say in your first line that it's 47 hours in your first week, then later say in the next week and three days. Which is it? There's a big difference. How many hours is it really in each week?

If you are actually in school, it is too many hours. In some states, it would be illegal as some states (but we don't know your state) limit the number of hours or have some type of temporal restriction on minors working. In most high school type jobs, you would also be entitled to overtime for hours worked over 40.
During the summer, my boys can work as many hours as they can handle. Not so during the school year ...

Yeah, its not what you were hired for. I would do it this week, but also let your boss know. You have been taken advantage of, but it also might me a test to see what you are willing to do. Unless you REALLY like it, dont do it after this week without an explanation.

your probably only schedualed for these hours for training. Shut up learn your job and be a good employee. How your attitude is during this period might affect weather you get anyhour at all when its over.
