I've often wondered this myself. For instance when you think you're in love and something happens to that relationship you feel you will never love again, but eventually you have feelings for another. I can't tell you about the loss of true love because what I though was love before I now know wasnt as I have only just found my true love and still have him and God willing will never lose him because I cannot honestly see myself ever loving another man. But it is strange how you love differently. The greatest love I've ever experienced was at the birth of my son, I was so overwhelmed with love that I couldn't believe it as I had never before known such love existed. I also wasn't aware of how much love I had for my siblings until my brother died 4 years ago. I knew I lovedd him dearly, but didn't know exactly how much until he was gone. I thank God that he gives us a loving heart and soul and that it is infinite in the amount of love it can experience. Also that he gives us the strength and His love when our hearts are broken and He helps us to mend it.

Love is an idea,a feeling ,an emotion,a gesture ,an attitude and a way of life.These are not physical things which require some kind of a container ,compartment or measured cupboard.whose capacity is limited.A child starts his love with few toys and goes on to love several things by the time he reaches High School. Similarly,When a mind expands spiritually[non religiously],it can encompass it's love for all the living beings in the universe and yet have many times more capacity still left for other things.Love is always in the MIND but speaks and listens through the HEART.SO,go ahead and love as many people as you desire and still feel light hearted.

Our heart gets bigger the more kinds of love we know....Its something we achieve in our lives....but hate....hate does not have such power...hate does not increase one's ability to testify to truth...hate does no good to anyone....yet people in our world today use hate as a tool for their gains...sick
The power of love once realized will dominate all...the time will come when hatred will have no place in the human heart...

i don't know if you can "measure the size of a heart." But i think that if you know God's love- you can have love in all these other areas.
God's love teaches us how to love people unconditionally. We also learn much about familial love because God is our Heavenly Father, and He instructs us much on how to love brothers and sisters in Christ. And the church is described as the "Bride of Christ." The Bible also teaches us how to be good friends and how to love those who are difficult to love. i've found that when i focus on God's love- loving everyone else is easier.

Well firstly we don't love with our heart - we use our brain.
Secondly I am an atheist so all the love you give to the guy in hyperspace I get to apply to family, friends and society, so I think my supply is endlessly more efficient.
