Every precious moment is a sudden experience of the spiritual variety.

Never by will, but seemingly by 'accident'

One has to fall into the Rabbit Hole...

Jon and Cosmic Kiss. You are right about the basic planting aspect of spiritual 'experience', I know that I've mentioned codes in the past. But it's really set to make me attentive without 'knowing' why. In wait. When something comes down the pike, it is as an 'awe' moment. Just when your not looking. Which is the seemingly by accident that I was refering too. This is also the 'release' mechinism in archery. You know the target, but once you release the arrow,. The more you release the outcome. The greater the 'awe' (spirtual experience is). Builds a strong sense of 'releasing' outcomes to practice archery. Who walks up to the target with arrow in hand and pushes the arrow into place where they want it? Too many...

The line, "Seek and ye shall find" plays itself out in our everyday lives but even moreso with contemplation and meditation. If I'm puzzling over a question and meditate on it, during meditation various hints at the answer arrive only to leave me pondering more. What typically happens, is after several days, weeks or longer, of having that question dangling in the forefront of my thoughts, when I get distracted and my mind is rather empty, the answer reveals itself.

So, I don't know if it's as much will as perseverance as forgetting to think for a time, but the sudden realization is a spiritual experience. When it appears it consumes one in the vision and everything is suddenly of the utmost clarity.

Jon, I like your thought on the spiritual experience seeking you. I think it helps if we prepare fertile ground so the experience has a receptive area in which to alight. :-) The two seek one another out IMO.

No. And I have tried. Any time we try to force enlightenment, we have already been defeated in our attempt, because it is ego doing the forcing, not spirit.

The first time I firewalked (alone) I must have crossed the coals over 50 times, with flames licking up my legs and I did not burn. Then my students and I did firewalking as part of a class I was teaching with another instructor, and in my effort to impress my students I forced the walks and could not even make it 5 passes without burning my feet.

When we dare to force our spiritual growth, we burn ourselves. It is when we allow our spirit to take us where we need to be that we can walk on fire . . . or perhaps even on water.

~sip~ Thank you for the tea.

Genuine spiritual experiences happen in your absence. IOW, in those moments when there in no 'you' present. Such moments happen quite often when the mind lets down it's guard. We are not aware of these moments simply because 'we' are absent. The experiences happen in the effortlessness of this absence, which is why there is no effort that can cause the experience to be repeated either.

I got through an extremely difficult patch, in one piece.

Integrity intact.

I did will it, though it took time to materialise.

Life was a (hard working) 'heaven on earth', for a long while after.

Have not fully earned my wings, though. :-)

Won't give up.

No, CC. Is that possible? Isn't it the case that the spiritual experience seeks you?

Cosmic Kiss,
Yes, couldn't agree more.

I talked with my spiritual guides recently because I needed insight into a dilemna. It has become a natural mental awareness.
