Haven't seen this guy I really like for 8 months. Went to where he worked the other day and we talked as though 8 months never happened. When I left, I said "well, see you in a couple of years". He said, well, I'll be here. What do you think he meant?

it's sound like he is not really interesting in you. that's just my take on it. but he says (he will be there) so maybe if you want to talk to him he will be there but it don't sound like he wants to make effort to talk to you...

I think he meant....if your ok not seeing each other for another 8 months then he is ok with it as well. He did say he'll be there so maybe he still wants to hang out as well. Don't wait 8 months if you really want to get together sooner....

He only mean that even after a couple of years will past, he's still there. Maybe waiting for you to come back after that span of time.
