It would be nice to if people actually did abit of research...

The only reference to Liltih in the bible is in Isaiah where it refers to a sheid (a kind of spiritual creature which has no free will and is a servant God) responsible for causing miscarriages.

Lilith is NOT from a Midrash or any Jewish oral source. the source of the "Lilith as wife of Adam" myth is a text called "The Alef Beth of Ben Sira" which first appears around the 11th century. It has been universally rejected by Jews ever since it first appeared- it being seen as either
1) A work of fiction that has somehow ben mistaken for a religious text or
2) A deliberately fraudulent document created to incite people against Jews. the one thing you will NOT find is any jewish source claiming it is authentic!

There was Lilywhite Lilith from an album called The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, by the rock group Genesis. It was released in 1974, and was Peter Gabriel's last album with the band.

Lilith was the first woman of Jewish literature and myth. The first reference to her in the Bible is;

Isaiah 34:14; Yeah the night monster (Lilith) shall repose here.
(In later translations she is called the screech owl).

She started off as an equal to Adam, an independent woman in the full blooded pagan sense. As time passed this image became out of line to the patriarchal society, so she is vilified.
In myth she was a partner to Adam, Samuel and Satan. She also becomes a winged temptress.

Her image as a will full, creative and destructive female icon is in keeping with women of ancient myth. The later traditons are uncomfortable with this idea of womanhood and anything other than the submissive or virgin image becomes demonised and threatening.

Lilith was supposedly a goddess that was in the garden of eden before Eve. Legend says she left when she was told to submit to Adam, and hence Eve was created. Depending on which source you use, she either never existed, was a Jewish legend, or was a Greek/Roman/Norse legend.

In the oral tradition of Judaism, Lilith was the first wife of Adam. She said the unspeakable name of God and she ceased to exist. God then made Eve.
This is not in the Torah (Bible) but is an oral tradition.

Lilith by name was not in the bible. There is reference to an owl whom interpreters say is Lilith, but that's a bad interpretation, IMO. There is a Canaanite demon named lilit who was in charge of crib death, and she (it) grew in legend and became this ancient Hebrew legend named Lilith. This demon was ancient by the time the Hebrews 'borrowed' her.

Lilith is not mentioned in the Bible.

There are references to her outside of the Bible (in the oral tradition of some Jewish groups for instance).
