How can scientists who believed the "Big Bang Theory" holds any water; if there is no time and no mass before the Big Bang; when the infinitely small and infinitely hot substance to exists in the first place before the explosion?.

What a screwed-up brain for one to believe in such nonsense; even a little kid knows the contradiction!

Speaking just as a lay man with some common sense!

What say you all , atheists and liberals especially?

jeannielunchbox, Oh yeah! The infinitely dense, infinitely hot mass which sceince says caused the explosion.
How did it get there in the first place ?
Where did all the heat come from?
When did it exist, and how?

Further more, Science says, rightly so as the God's Word says so, that the universe is still expanding. So, how can we be so sure of an ever expanding universe, merely by observation? Can we?

For all we know, the universe could already be collapsing, not that it is; but until God says so!

Pure scientific observation is not enough to complete the cosmological quest. Telescopes which can only register starlight reaching us now from billions of years ago cannot possibly know what is happening to those stars where they are now. It is not that telescopes are wrong in what they observe; they are just physically too time bound. Of course, empirical research in cosmology is always physically time bound and thus always limited.

What say you all?

Understand that I am a theist when I say that you have no idea what the big bang theory implies. I suggest you look into some to the essays by Issac Asimov that he wrote for Science Fiction & Fantasy magazine. He is amazing when it comes to explaining to the layman complicated theories and concepts.

It should be noted that I do not personally believe in the exact Big Bang theory but in something that was God led and close to how science puts it.

I am sure I will get loads of negative votes for this one, but, here goes. The Bible states that God gives us over to our foolish thought and behaviors when we stubbornly won't give up. If they gave up the big bang theory what else is there but to consider a Creator and that is unacceptable to their proud hearts. They espouse doing research on the big bang, well that is all I got all throughout school and college. How many of the big bangers have truly studied the science backing Creation? It doesn't matter what we say, it is like a religion and they believe it whether it makes sense or not. It used to make sense to me too, before God removed the veil so I could see the inherent impossibility of it.

no scientist ever claimed that the big bang was a complete explanation of the origin of the universe. it is not even clear that such an explanation is required, because it is possible that the big bang is not the origin. however the big bang theory does address the observed expansion of space, elemental abundances, and the properties of the cosmic background radiation, but you don't care about that i suppose. you'd rather focus on what we don't know than on what we do know. so much for 'common sense'.

I think you should do some more open minded reading on the Big Bang.
Yeah, it's a stretch, but a much smaller one than what the Bible asks of you.

"How can Christians believe the Creation Theory holds any water? If there is no proof and most of it is more ridiculous than old folklore and mythology, how can they say even say they believe it without being called crazy? What a screwed-up brain for one to believe in such nonsense! Even a little kid who hasn't been brainwashed by right wing Christians knows how ridiculous it is!"

Is it any more stupid than some old man sitting on a cloud creating the world in six days?
The origins of life is a mystery but scientists do not invent gods and demons to fill in the gaps in their knowledge

the big bang theory does not say what was before or at the moment of the big bang. it doesn't say what caused it.

it is just a model for what we can observe today and it's pretty good even if it's not totally correct.

EDIT: please take time to read about the big bang before you go ranting about it. science doesn't know how the universe came to exist...and it doesn't claim to...

that's what i say!

what is the contradiction you are talking about? do you even know what a contradiction is?

It took scientist many years to understand that theory. So, do not expect ourselves to be wiser than them who had committed themselves to science when we only benefit from their success.

Anyway, from a Muslim's POV, we believe in the Big-Bang theory as it proves that the Quran was right about the creation of the world.

The start of this Universe is the end of a previous one. That's the theory behind the Big Bang. But people prefer to believe in simplistic fairy tales.

Genesis of all intellectual thought is the exploration of THEORY. Theory is the beginning of discovery. By your account there would have never been space exploration because, as everyone knows, the world is flat. The sun revolves around the earth. There are only 3 continents.

It at least has less flaws than the Bible which claims the universe is 6,000 years old.

It's a theory, it has flaws. There are others floating around out there that may or may not be better.

Let the scientists think until they come up with a fact.
