In 1991 Boris Yeltsin authorized the scientific opening of the burial site of the murdered Romanov Royal family. The remains showed only nine skeletons, four male and five female. Two members of the Imperial Family were found to be missing. In 1992, western forensic experts determined that they were the remains of the Imperial Family and their retainers. This was later confirmed by DNA testing Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. There are still two missing children to be found but it is claimed that the missing daughter is Grand Duchess Maria, and not Grand Duchess Anastasia. The person who claimed to be Anastasia was found not to be, by DNA testing.

Probably, based on the DNA...
It's an intriguing issue. The research is still quite controversial, but the DNA says alot... it wasn't the servants they found.
Edit: It does state that they found a boy and a girl... but hard to determine which was Maria, and which was Anastasia, since they were so close in age.

If you're talking about the story today, it was the little boy. Check the Yahoo front page or news page.
