I know everyone is going to say talk to family or someone you feel comfortable with. I dont feel comfortable with anyone and the thought of mentioning it to family is more than enough to send me off the edge. . .

I feel I look like a down syndrome person - and when you look at some of the symptoms I think I have a few of them. I struggled with most areas in school but went on to do a couple of other courses (travel/tourism & simple computing) I have my drivers licence (but I know some downs people do have drivers licences). I know I sound depressed but I can assure you I'm not. This problem does bother me though and my self esteem is rock bottom!!

someone asked my age - I'm almost 26. . .I do have a heart defect and the doctor insists i get tested for thyroid probs regulary. I have a small mouth with a reasonably high roof of my mouth (sounds ridiculous) but the dentist told me its like working on a goldfish!! I am sure I have the slanted eyes (difficult when you are trying to diagnose yourself) People say that talking to others (incl doctors) is no big deal but to me its HUGE. . .I just can not do it - I don't have a reason I just can't

I know that if I had it I probably would have been diagnosed at birth but I know my parents are the type that would not be able to tell me because it would be hurtful (and it would) and I am not someone who could ask. . .I have looked at school reports, speld reports, birth certificates - everything I can get my hands on (all behind everyones back) just to try and find out

If you do not "know" that you have Down's, there is a very good chance that you do not have it.

Down's is usually determined at birth, and confirmed by a blood test. The facial features are distinctive, as are fingers and muscle tone. Most kids with Down's would need special educational accomodations to participate in schoolwork with kids their own age. Hearing and heart problems are common to the condition.

Here's my suggestion. Write a small note. Hand it to your teacher or principal or school counselor. They will be able to answer you, and to reassure you, one way or the other.
Sometimes writing is easier than talking. Adults should realize your sensative feelings.
If the school person does not know the answer right-off, they do have access to your school file and can take a look, answering you later.

(edit: you're older than I presumed. Driver's license? It's not likely that you have it. You may have another genetic disorder, though. I have a friend with similar features who has a different disorder -- So, the answer for you would be to go back to the Dr. with written questions, asking for genetic testing Sorry, I just don't know of any way other than the blood test --- Do you have a friend who knows your question? For support, have that friend go to the Dr. with you and let him do the talking ---- Dr's know some people are sensitive about asking)

Whether you have it or not, you are a valuable person.
Everybody has something about their body or mind that doesn't work quite "right". For some people it's more hidden than others. Give life "all you've got" and thank God for who He made you to be.

There is an overly small threat that you just do have Down syndrome. You would have the mosaic style, wherein best one of the most cells for your frame have the further chromosome. That could account for you no longer being identified, and having best slight signs. It could also be viable you could have another genetic ailment. They will have equivalent signs. But you ought to quit seeking to diagnose your self. You ought to awareness at the disorders you could have as a substitute of the purpose for them. Just move to a physician and inform her or him you could have a majority of these matters and also you wish to manage them and discover out what they're with out citing what you watched.

Just go to the doctor. There's no reason to be afraid.

It's very doubtful that you have Down's Syndrome. I never heard of anyone with Down's who had a normal range IQ, and you write like someone with a normal IQ. I know some people with high IQs that don't write as well as you do.

But it sounds to me like you may be depressed. The doctor should be able to help.

Check out the March of Dimes website. There is a lot of information there. People with Downs syndrome generally have varying degrees of retardation. It ranges from mild to moderate. Your writing indicates to me that you are not mentally handicapped. Talk with your parents none-the-less.

You don't mention your age.

I would think it unlikely you would be able to communicate effectively on this site if you had undiagnosed Down's Syndrome.

You say you have a lot of symptoms, which ones?????
