Hi R & S'ers, I'm putting out a call for prayers/kind thoughts/whatever it is you do when someone is in need.
On my way home from work, I came across a man laying partially in the street. My first thought was that he was passed out drunk, but then I saw the bicycle on the ground beside him and the man walking towards him from a car parked a couple hundred feet in front of him. The bicyclist had just been hit by this car, and the man was not moving at all. I looked in my rearview mirror and saw blood on the front of the car.
I have no idea how badly he was injured, or honestly even if he's alive. If you pray, please do so for this man. If you don't pray, please just hope for him that he has no serious injuries and recovers well.
Salaam, and thank you.

Valhalla, I considered stopping. There was already a man on a cell phone, I assumed he was calling 911. I also had just passed three cops a couple blocks back so was sure they'd be there in a moment. I also have NO medical training and wouldn't have been able to be of any assistance that way either.

To those who judged me because you think asking for prayers/positive thoughts is the lazy way out: I'm not going to defend myself against you. You don't know me, and therefore know nothing about what kind of person I am. I was unable to provide any physical tangible help here, but still wanted to try to make a difference. I have only recently begun to pray after 20+ years as an atheist. I don't know if it works, but I know it won't do any harm to try.
I have no update on the story, unfortunately. It didn't make the news, so I'll probably never know how it turned out. Guess that's how life is. Thank you to those who kept this man in your thoughts. Even though he'll never know any of you or me, maybe he felt us care when he needed it.

Peace:)
I'm non-religious and I'd like to say that I appreciate your request. A lot of prayer requests are imposing with religious or personal overtones.
I live in the the Chicago area, which has continued to be hit by horrific weather since the early afternoon and it looks like a flood is on its way. I pray that people are safe and that those in harms way find peace.
BTW, Please stop the next time you see something like that. Trust me, you would be able to help.

Instead of praying and taking the time for others to do so, get yourself down to the local hospitals and see if this person needs some help - consoling relatives, driving an out of town one somewhere.
Solicitation donations for accident victim funds. Volunteer for a victims help organization - whatever. Prayer is the lazy way out. It may make you feel better about the situation but it doesn't do a thing to aid that injured man. Take action instead.

If he is atheist, will prayers work for him? Do both the person praying and the person being prayed for have to be theist?
(I know this is a question and not an answer. But the question doesn't even contain a question.)

That is sad I will pray, I read in the news today that many people are being killed walking on the street and an automobile hits them, so sad I watch the streets carefully
God Bless

Amazing that people will pray to a god who couldn't be bothered to prevent the accident in the first place. I'll simply hope the man has good doctors.

Already prayed for him ,before i put this answer in & for God to bless you too for your concern, i'm glad the motorist stopped, sometimes they just hit & run, like on tv.

I know somebody who got hit pretty badly by a car while riding a bike. He broke his leg and something else. Chances are the guy you saw just got messed up pretty badly and didn't die. Who knows though???

Didn't you stop to see if you could help? Didn't you call the police so they could send an ambulance? Or, did you simply drive away, and now your conscience is bothering you so you're going to pretend that you're helping by praying? I don't get it. I just don't get it.

Prayers are a waste of time. Instead of praying for the guy, get him to a hospital. At least doctors are real.
