If you are talking about a personal GPS you'll be luck to get within 10 feet. I have a Garmin Nuvi 360 and the best accuracy I have ever gotten is 12 feet.
I wouldn't base any property line measurements or disputes from a personal GPS.

reading the book that came with my GPS it said that under very good conditions accuracy of 3 feet can be achieved. the best I've ever gotten was 11 feet. It will get you in the ball park but I would not bank on it any closer than that.

to get that kind of accuracy you need to use differential gps - basically that means that there's a surveyed ground station broadcasting the gps waveform within range of your gps receiver - most commercial gps receivers aren't designed with the accuracy to perform surveying (the gps receiver in my cell phone is only accurate to within 100 yards) - they exist and are much more expensive than your regular auto or marine gps receiver - so basically without some serious expense it cannot be done - unless you happen to be fortunate enough to be within range of someone else's ground station (highly unlikely)

If you are in an area with good coverage (GPS and differential GPS) you could get within a few centimeters. Otherwise you will only get within a few meters.
