Things are seldom as they appear so ask questions with an open mind. Look deeper till you find what is true and when you find truth, never let it go.
A lie is like a bad debt.
Truth is worth more than gold.
Wisdom is the wealth of the wise
which will keep you safe
when there is trouble all around.

yes. An open heart and an open mind are necessary when searching for spiritual truth. The Bible is a great guide; however, there are other texts that have been discovered since the canonization of the Bible that are interesting as well.
Don't ever stop seeking for truth. Although it is an arduous task, the benefits are well worth it. Meditate daily to chew on what you have learned, and also to let the Holy Spirit guide you to truth.

Get a good broom and find the snitch.
Oh that was the seeker from Harry Potter....
If you are seeking truth then think objectively and evaluate the evidence on all sides. If one side's arguments fall primarily into unprovable assertions, then it most likely is not the truth. Face it, unless some one is deliberately trying to hide the truth, it is not that hard to find.

Ecclesiastes 12
11 The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails—given by one Shepherd.
12 Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them.
Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body.
13 Now all has been heard;
here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep his commandments,
for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God will bring every deed into judgment,
including every hidden thing,
whether it is good or evil.

Yeah. Love those around you. They're the ones who will tell you quite bluntly what exactly your faults are, and so, you may improve yourself and reach attainment of spirituality on the scale of the universe.
It's quite heady.
1) Look into their eyes
2) give them a left-handed compliment.

Better a seeker than a denier.
(Those who claim "truth is always relative" need to answer the question of whether that statement itself is always true or if it, too, is relative.)

Don't be afraid to think for yourself. Gain knowledge by reading books on different beliefs, asking, attending churches of your choice, and come up with your own conclusion. Always pray and ask for guidance.

Read a lot of books... Pray...Meditate... Ask yourself, because most of the answers are inside of us... Ask people too... Use reason, but don't forget to use intuition... Believe... Have faith... Love yourself... Trust in the natural process of life... Love others... Forgive...
Peace!

Mat 6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
Mat 6:32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Mat 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
