My one year old gets diaper rashes and I have noticed before that she gets these bumps that are hard behind them. Then they pop and pus comes out then they go away. But then they always seem to come back, they are very red, hard behind them (like they are caked behind them) are these boils? If so is it normal for babies to get them and what causes them? Please Help Me! I'm scared!!!!

The cure for my son was simple in the end... the anitbiotics we tried didn't do a thing.

Here it is ladies... wash your baby every day in the bath tub with DIAL antibacterial bar soap. Good ol' Dial will do it. I washed him all over with it. Also, make everyone else in your family bathe/shower with it too. It will work!

Sounds boil-like to me. Besides the diaper, does your baby sit on anything plastic for long periods of time? For instance, in a high chair or car seat for a couple of hours? The diaper increases the heat against the skin and plastic does it more so and can actually cause a boil to appear. I honestly don't know how often children get this problem, but if you suspect this, you might want to think of switching to cloth diapers, another brand, eliminating the high chair or just having some non-diaper time. This happens in adults who sit long periods in plastic chairs, non-upholstered computer chairs and certain coverings on car seats.

A boil is pretty much the same thing as an abscess. It's not a problem unless it becomes very infected. However, there are certain diseases that have boils associated with them, rare, but there.

Take her to a doc. Could be a staph infection. My friend has been going through the same thing with her daughter and that was her diagnosis. Staph in not "only carried in the bloodstream" like someone else said. Taking a good antibiotic and using an antibacterial bath soap should help keep them at bay.

ok when you come up with an answer to this one let me know.....my daughter is the same way we have been battling them for the last 5 months...everytime one comes up we go the the doctor and they cut it open and gives her antibiotics...but they keep coming back....some ppl have told me that is has to do with staph infection...but staph infections are in the blood stream and can only be cured from iv antibiotics...but my doctors will not do biopsies on them to find out exactly what is wrong....please when you find an anwser let me know....marcirae18@yahoo.com....i really want to get to the bottom of this....i have also seen that they don't come up just around the diaper...she has even had them on her belly....so it can't be caused by the diaper rash...

Have your dr. look at them. They could be a yeast infection, she is a girl after all. Yeast infections usually don't puss though unless its very infected. Sometimes food intolerances can cause very acidic urine that can cause very painful rashes that sometimes bleed and get infected. Also, some babies are allergic to certain kinds of diapers. Try diff. ones and see if that helps. If your dr. thinks its a food intolerance, eliminating foods will help.

You need to get her to a doctor. Sometimes boils can be an indication of illness or infection. My husband is a diabetic and when his blood sugars were out of control he would get them a lot.
