I am not sure that i agree with the original question. For not all who answer questions on R/S is on a Spiritual Path. But then again I could be wrong....I have found many people who answer questions here filled with sarcasm and not searching to help, but actually lookiing to cause chaos and discorse among many or/and all.
You for example, has brought up a whole new perception for me. I must admit that although i speak of practicing tolerance for all and being non-judgemental...i always assumed that atheists were just atheists. Not believing in a spiritual quest nor in even a possibility of a spiritual life, or path.
So now, I am faced with the fact that i am guilty of practicing what is called, "contempt prior to investigation"
And to answer your second question, yes....as long as you are searching and seeking out what is spiritually right and true for you, you are progressing. It is when we stop seeking that we stop making progress.
I hope you find what it is you seek....

Absolutely.
We are all in a spiritual path, here at R/S and all over the world. Even the most insignificant guy you know, the most jerk and stupid, even that one is in a spiritual path. Even atheists are in a spiritual journey, and they don't have to believe in that, but they are. Sometimes I even think that atheists probably are in a higher level of spirituality that they don't need to feed themselves with religion anymore, however they have to come to this world to accomplish some other kind of mission, if you know what I mean.
My religion is Spiritism and I am comfortable with that, but I am the kind of person that question a lot, just like you. I am always searching. I refuse to open only the Bible and be strict to that. I want to know more, because there is more out there to be known. I want to learn more and more. Questioning is the best way of learning, and that means we are not just taking what people tell us without thinking.
Peace!

Well, the Bible says "Happy is he conscious of his spiritual need." So, I do think we all have this need for spiritual things. Having said that, I am a Christian, and I don't hate you. But some of the atheists that come in here are just so venomous and when you put down or say derogatory things about one's God, that is just being hateful and showing one's true colors. I wish we could speak more tolerantly and even though disagree, still be respectful to one another and tactful.

Regardless of what path we're on, His rod and staff will comfort us if we accept His guidance, and goad us if we kick against it. God is smarter than us, and my hope is that not nearly as many people are 'going to Hell' as are putting themselves or others through hell needlessly. If I end up on the good side of the Pearly Gates on That Day, I will be so surprised and happy I won't be barring the door against anyone - Athiest, Jew, Muslim, whatever, I'll be reaching out and trying to drag some more folks in! We are a fallen creation, and until the end of this age is fulfilled we will suffer the wrath of our own fury, corporately as well as individually. The only hope any of us have is that the Love of God will make amends in the next life for all pain and injustice, for we are all on the path to the grave and none of us shall have any say in what happens after we pass.

No.
I'm not spiritual, I don't even think that word has a rational definition, and I'm long beyond searching for anything but amusement - and perhaps enlightening a few minds. I would agree that you're not likely to find many answers on here, most I've seen are appallingly ignorant - but perhaps, as an older and highly educated person, I just have high standards.

You are special and don't you forget that. I don't hate you and I know there are others that love you too. Yes, we are all on a spiritual path, because we are spiritual people looking for spiritual answers. You are smart and have a purpose to your life. I hope that Christians here show you the goodness of God and His love for you. The others that put you down, don't mind them. Do forgive us that have hurt your feelings. Even Christians don't have all the answers, but God does. Just ask Him, He will answer all your questions.

I'm on my own path. Where it is taking me turns out not to be the way I thought it was going to go. I have always been an open minded atheist, now I find that for every answer I find, I have two more questions. It might take some time.

Not necessarily a spiritual path? More often the yellow brick road.

I would like to think so. To say you know everything admits you know nothing at all, I agree. Spirituality, having faith or believing in God, we are all one, etc., takes time. There are many levels of faith and knowing God. A person can never learn too much. Good luck and God bless with your journey!

not necessarily. spirituality is more than "searching" it is a way of living, a way of being. yes, we all have the potential to be spiritual but too many folks don't walk a spiritual path. they try to run their lives by their own rules without consideration of anyone else.
but that's enough outta me, I'll end up on my "soapbox" and you'll be rolling your eyes.
ciao
