I believe that all fundamentalists are extremists and capable of going over the edge when it comes to defending their religion.

I personally don't follow the pope. Everything he says is null and void to me. But I know this. Truth is exclusive not relative. Can all religions be right? No. because they obviously contradict each other. That's why when the pope says "ANYONE regardless of faith can enter 'The Kingdom of Heaven' just so long as they lead a good life" I don't buy it because its a contradiction to the faith he's supposedly proclaiming. Can they all be wrong? Yes, very possible. But can ONE out of all the religions in world be correct? That's possible. It's a search for truth. Unfortunately, people have been led astray. Either by force or willful ignorance.

No. Fanatics *can* be dangerous, but fundamentalists are not, by definition, dangerous (except for worshipers of death gods, perhaps).
1) Lots of Islamic fundamentalists in the world. 9-11 was a very particular group of Islamic *extremists*.
2) Israeli apartheid? American money is not "funding" the Jewish "fundamentalist" killing of Palestinians *or* any Israeli apartheid, as far as I know. Maybe you should clue the CIA in! They'll freeze their accounts for funding such terrorism!
3) Abortion clinic murders - I would say that these are definitely *not* Christians, regardless of what they call themselves. Where is the logic of "murder is wrong, so we're going to murder you?" Just because a murdering looney calls himself a Christian, or uses Christianity in an attempt to justify his pre-existing lunacy, does not qualify him as a Christian.

Unfortunately you seem to be comparing fundementalists with extremists. There is actually a large group of fundemental Muslims in Canada that actually supports Israel and vocally opposes Bin Laden. The only reason they are not given any press coverage is the media does not like to admit that people who hold to a strong standard of faith do more good in the community than those who don't. As for Israel just as many Israelis have been dying at the hands of Hamas and Hezbollah (and by the way the "Palestinians actually started the war) yet you don't seem to list Hamas or Hezbollah as being extremists or fundementalists. Why?

Fundamentalists aren't dangerous by nature. The examples you have named are all text-book cases of extremism. Any extremist is dangerous.

Despite my strong distaste for religion in general, I know there are some people within religious sects like Christianity and Islam, that manage to keep their beliefs to themselves, and pose no threat to anyone.
My father, for example, is a religious man, but does not talk about his beliefs unless he is asked to.
Where extremism concerns, it exists in and out of religion.
However, it's quite sad that many Christians and Muslims feel that their sole purpose is to convert the world, by any means necessary, even violence. I think these delusional people need professional help. Any person who kills, oppresses or supports murder and oppression of others because of their point of view is dangerous.

I think that only violent fundamentalists are dangerous. Peaceful ones can go to their sect meetings and seperate themselves from the rest of us. In the time of Christ, the Essenes were fundamentalist who seperated themselves and waited for the end to come. The zealtos were the ones who carried swords and attack the Romans. I guess it depends on what brand of fundamentalism you are talking about.

First, even the most staunch Christian fundamentalists do not endorse the actions of abortion clinic murderers. It is a horrible generalization to associate "Christians" with the radical acts of a few nut cases. It is even worse when you assume that such a tremendous logical fallacy is "obvious." There are over 2,000,000 Christians. What percentage of them has murdered a doctor at an abortion clinic, or endorsed such a thing?
Second, what is your definition of religious fundamentalism? It sounds like you alter the definition to suit your needs. To you, a fundamentalist is anyone who is responsible for an atrocity of some sort. The Christian fundamentalists who support Israel fall under the Dispensationalist heading, which doesn't even represent the bulk of Christian fundamentalism.

and Evangelicans and Baptists are all equaly dangerous to
the world and society and their minds are so
loaded with hatred and anger and all the reasons they are
willing to murder

Anyone who condones the killing of another human or participates in it is not a true Christian. People can claim to be whatever they want, but their works show otherwise. The Bible states that Christians should "be peaceable with all men." This includes those that may believe differently. So, these ones aren't Christians to begin with but what the Apostle Paul referred to as "wolves in sheep's clothing."
