Besides the things they tell you on the internet and other places. I would like an experienced person in the ct rating or any rating that worked closely with cts to answer this one.

98% of the work you will be doing is Classified, so you will NOT be able to find any information on a public domain like the internet. Additionally, no rated CTRs(or any of the CT ratings for that matter) will be allowed to discuss anything with you, as you do not have the necessary Clearances.

Expect at least one DIRSUP tour after you finish schooling. That's when you are -technically- assigned to shore duty, but will augment ships, subs or squadrons when necessary. EVERYBODY volunteers( or more accurately, is voluntold) for aircrew, Males must also volunteer for Sub duty. this DOES NOT mean you will get it, you still have to pass the physicals necessary. On DIRSUP orders you be assigned to one ship/sub/squadron and only go when they need your services, or you could be tossed in a pool and go out as often or as little as your name comes up. meaning you could be gone all the time, or not at all.

Then of course there is PCS Afloat, as well as real shore duty.

Work can NEVER come home with you, meaning there will be days when you will be at the command a very long time. I personally LIKE the fact that he can't bring work home.

If you want more information, what limited that you can access, check out the Navy Intelligence Forums on Military.com.

I've worked with CT's in the same working space but in a different rate. It's office work where everyone is absolutely anal about security. Normally these guys run a 24/7 shop on shore duty. That means standing watch at night, weekends and holidays. I've never served overseas or at sea with them.
