The treatment can be physically exhausting for the patient. Current chemotherapeutic techniques have a range of side effects mainly affecting the fast-dividing cells of the body. Important common side-effects include (dependent on the agent):

* Nausea and vomiting
* Diarrhea or constipation
* Anemia
* Malnutrition
* Memory loss
* Depression of the immune system, hence (potentially lethal) infections and sepsis
* Hemorrhage
* Secondary neoplasms
* Cardiotoxicity
* Hepatotoxicity
* Nephrotoxicity
* Ototoxicity
* Death

Unfortunately, no one can predict what kind of side effects you will have with the chemotherapy. Some patients have nausea and vomiting while other patients have no problems what so ever. It usually depends on what type of drug is being used and the overall health of the individual being treated. Your physician will discuss with you all of the possible side effects of each chemo drug before it is administered because you will need to sign a consent form for treatment....so if you have any concerns this would be the time to discuss them. Good luck.

there are many side effects chemotheripy. i know this from experiance because i have cancer. one side effect is that you get sores in your mouth but the doctors give you mouth washes that help. another side effect is that you can get pink eye. thats why they give you eye drops about every 6 hours to prevent it. another side effect can be itching but they can give you benedryl. you lose your hair. i lost mine the first round of it but others dont lose it that quickly. you also lose your appetite and you're sensitive to smells and tastes. a lot of foods dont taste good and a lot of things smell really bad.

mostly chemotheripy just makes you feel sick and yucky and its worse for some than it is for others

some chemo will cause you to lose all of your hair..not only head hair, but body hair. they have good nausea meds. now, but chemo makes you very tired, and in some cases very depressed. it also, of course kills off some healthy cells. It's not a walk in the park,,but they have come a long way with it. good luck. oh, in my case food tasted like cardboard, and water tasted like liquid tin...if you can't eat you should drink a dietary supplement drink.
