possibly flour. If, that is, if it is being used to thicken something.

Cream Of Tartar. Which can be found in your local spice section. Also if you go to Wal-Mart in the craft section where all the wedding and cake decorating things are they have something called Meringue powder. The stuff is awesome.

I don't think you should use flour in a meringue, but you could use quick cooking tapioca powder. I think it would interfere less with the flavor. Good luck K

Not really. A box of corn starch will cost you about $1.00 at the mega mart. Go buy one. Your meringues will be just cookies without it.

Depends on the recipe. Are you allergic or don't you have any? Flour can be used as thickener in some recipes where cornstarch is normally used.

Try a teaspoon of sifted flour or a teaspoon of Bisquick as a substitute.

There are recipes and there are formulas.
Recipes for cooking can be adjusted and played around with.
A formula must be kept exact. They are for baking and no substitution allowed, if you want it to turn out the way it should.
Just be prepared when you shop so you have everything you need.
