I mean come on, if the amnesty really failed because of racism wouldn't affirmative action go too? What about school segregation and the busing situation? Wouldn't it be really easy to pass laws barring anchor babies from citizenship and preventing illegals from ANY benefits and ALL educational opportunities? And if it were about race wouldn't Mexican-Americans support amnesty in much larger numbers? If it were only about race there wouldn't be so many minorities speaking out against illegals? Face it, the race card is played out already and nobody believes it EXCEPT the pro-illegals themselves. Confront all the VALID reasons Americans have against the illegals if you want to be taken seriously. Take steps to remedy the negative impact the illegals are having on our society if you really want us to accept them here.

That's the point I'm making here, the problem is that those who want to keep illegals in the country and give them amnesty are trying to blend the two issues.

Yeah, but I've decided that the only way to combat the rampant TOSing is to repost questions (after reviewing them to be sure I didn't write something in anger) The last thing the trolls want is to give a question they don't want to see asked more exposure.

illegals DO take away jobs. AG, construction and service jobs CAN'T be imported to china. To further the harm to US workers they depress wages to the point that a low-skilled American can't support a family anymore.
Our country let's in more legal immigrants then any other country in the world from ALL countries. Mexico is the #1 country for getting visas. So what if you need a certain level of income in order to do it, America is expensive. We must limit the numbers of people coming into the country, we are already having trouble keeping up with the population we have now.
I do look at both sides, but my loyalty is for THIS country. We can't be expected to supply income to every poor person in the world, not even every poor person in Mexico. Americans are the most charitable people in the world, giving more money than any other population. But we can't keep this up without destroying ourselves.

These reporters make me sick! drixnot2 I'm sorry that your question was removed. I knew exactly what happened when I saw this question again. :(
Edit ^5! Good!
Now to answer your question again. I don't see Americans as racist and I know that many people who want to stop illegal immigration are not racist. But yes I see racism get into the immigration issue often. It should never be there. It is.
Re race card. I would like to ask people to please imagine what it feels like for a Mexican-American who comes here and reads the questions and answers that put down Mexicans and sees the thumbs up. Maybe you can understand why it is hard to NOT be suspicious of some antis who are saying some of the same things the racists say in arguments?
BTW I don't hate people for being illegal...I am not "pro-illegal".
[NOTE TO REPORTERS: I am copying my answer here so if this question or my answer is removed I will just post this right back again]

Interesting that people here generalize that all of those who attack illegal immigration attack Mexicans???? Actually after responding to some *#@! I realize that one of the things Pro-illegals state is Mexicans would do the jobs that Americans won't do. It's kind of a racist statement. Other than the obvious, Those who said it are ignoring the fact that there are other nationalities that are willing to do those jobs other than Mexicans. Isn't it wrong for them to pretend other ethnicities other than Mexicans and AMericans are out there.

Americans are not racist, what it comes down to is that they want the welfare of their country just as much as the next country. The thing is that they are mislead by many irrational points that contradict each other like: They take away our jobs, when the truth is that they keep our jobs here, because american labor is so expensive that companies rather go to china and central america where the labor is cheaper, thanks to the cheap labor of immigrants many companies stay in the U.S.
why cant they come here legally like other immigrants: well most illegal immigrants come from countries where money per capita is so low, the U.S don;t give them the opportunity to come here, it's only countries like in Europe and Japan where immigrants with high income can come here with no problems, other people are only given the chance to come here for 6 months.
I believe Americans need to get better informed by looking at the other side of the picture, if you want to have an opinion on this subject you need to see both sides not just one.

What's worse is they are running scared now that the people are getting involved. The funniest thing is calling mexican or latino a race when they aren't. Of course if you break that down further they are calling us racists for fighting against the illegal invasion of foreign national criminals which many of us never even mention the ethnicity of the criminal.
I won't bother to single out the ones aiding and abetting criminals they know their days are numbered and that Americans have had enough.

It has nothing to do with race. What it has to do with is working LEGALLY. Why do all these ILLEGAL immigrants try to us the race card one they have NO rights they are NOT citizens, they can not vote, they won't learn to speak English, they do NOT pay taxes, they are bleeding the American welfare system dry.Where is this a race thing? If anything the ILLEGALS are racist they treat the US like we owe them.I don't hardly think so. It's time they PAY the US back for what they actually stolen from the US which is Billions of dollars.Put them to work building that WALL that would be a start. Then send them back and shoot to KILL anything that moves over that WALL that they built.

American's aren't racist, and we're focused on illegals because they pose a threat to our security. After all, several of the 9/11 terrorists got here illegally.
