hmmm, if i'm being honest, my prospective mother-in-law scares me more than any "God" or "Satan" ever could.

Not at all. If this "silly" god thing actually pans out, you and I will be wondering which god is the one that actually pans out, and which other gods are false. For me, an atheist, I think I will fare better since I did not worship a false god. For you, a potentially (what are the odds?) false god worshipper, you will do worse.
Since there are literally thousands of gods, what makes you so sure you have picked the right one? What evidence do you have to support that? If you have no evidence, I must assume they all have the same probability. In which case, odds are that you will surely be toast.

If I die of other than natural causes and fail to rot and decay I would guess god would meet well with an intelligent spirit rather than a manipulated indoctrinated believer but that is less likely than some one who knows the odds and wins the lottery without buying a ticket .

Either one sounds angry, vengeful, and nasty. If God is just going to damn me to Hell simply because I didn't "believe" in him, and bow down and worship him (why an all-powerful being would need such an ego boost as having us "worship" it is beyond me anyway) to his satisfaction, then he doesn't sound much less frightening than Satan.

How do you know they are not the same being?
I have no fear. If the do exist they should be to busy trying to get at each other to worry about me. Unless of course they are buddies like it says in the book of Job, in which case it would not matter much...

God seems to be the more hypocritical and the more evil. The response is obvious.
