DVi and HDMI are digital interfaces.
In terms of video quality, if you can use component, you have nothing to worry. The sticky point is copy protection with DHCP, as used in HD DVDs or Blu-Rays. There is actually a control handshake between the source and the TV, so an adaptor is not helping much.
