My room mate is very fond of my dog. Besides encouraging bad behavior, I am concerned about proper hygiene, and passing any immune related diseases.
My dog is very healthy otherwise. She has had all immunizations, etc., but I am wondering about spreading colds, or other contaminants that cause illness.

There is no problem here, except where behavior is concerned, depending on how you expect your dog to act. Dog's immune systems are different than humans so we really don't share diseases (if we do, I haven't heard of them). Both your roommate and your dog will be fine.
My husband and I only have dogs and we let them get away with a lot. This will gross you out but I let them share Popsicles with me.

No there are no health risks...dogs saliva is really clean and won't hurt humans...and vice versa...a humans saliva can't really get a dog sick because dogs' saliva kills all of the germs. But people definitely shouldn't be sharing drinking cups with dogs...it's safe, but it's also creepy and gross.

yes. illness can be tranmitted by either party It's not a good idea because the dog is the one to lick or eating anything.

You can get very sick... you can even get tapeworm.

well that is just nasty. dogs have a particular way of cleaning themselves. so even if the dog is healthy, there are germs there that you dont want to mess with.

no not at all unless the dog has rabies lol my dog drinks out of my hat lol when i dont have a bowl or something to put water into

Nasty!!!,your dog licks his asss,his nuts,and who knows what else he licks when he and your room mate are home alone...NOT GOOD!!

i dont think so. dogs mouths are actually cleaner than human's!
