Tempur pedic mattress is like sleeping on a molded hot rock. The sleep number is so much better because you can control how much support you need or don't need. This really helps for people who have tender spots on their bodies.

I have a bad back and a Tempur pedic mattress. I love the way it feels. Sleepnumber did not feel as comfortable to me. If you are unsure, I recommend buying a memory foam mattress topper for now. I purchased one for a reasonable price at Cosco about 1 year before I got my mattress. It will give you a good idea whether or now you will like the Tempur Pedic mattress without spending all of the money. The pad will wear out in about 1 year.

Temper pedic is better and it feels more natural...I don't like the sleep numbers because it feels like you are sleeping on an air matress, which in all relaity, it sort of is. And I don't like that!
If you would like to compare the 2, here is a good site for you.

Well from what I heard sleepnumber beds are just a cheap pull off of an air mattress. My neighbors bought a tempurpedic and they say they like it, but I tried it in the store and it felt like a gigantic piece of foam that sucks you in when you lay on it.
