for example if you go to federal prison how long would it take to disappear??.......if possible give me a source [.gov].......p.s. for a project

It will remain on your FBI/NCIC Identification Record forever unless they receive an order of expungement from the court which convicted you.

They don't. They may be sealed if they are juvenile offenses. Certain types can be expunged, and in certain states if you remain clean for a statutory number of years, a felony can become a misdemeanor and a misdemeanor can just go away. But, that depends on the jurisdiction.
