I agree with you that the prosprerity message is getting a bit redundant and is getting out of hand. As I've been saying so often, "People now want more of what is in God's hand than what is in His heart!!" Prosperity is one thing but their greed is a whole different matter.

The preachers of the prosperity gospel are prophetically described by Peter in this passage.

2 Peter 2:1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

When the people whom they fool into giving them their money don't see God opening a window from Heaven and pouring out a blessing in their laps they charge the credulous dupes with not having enough faith and cherry pick another verse out of the Bible to support their false doctrines.

James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

I have been going through a time that has not been easy financially. I had been ill for a long time and now just getting back to work. I thought God did not care about me because I was not being blessed with alot of money. I am thankful now that He has allowed me to go through this trial. I have learned to trust Him daily for everything I need. I do not have alot either, just basics to survive, not even a car. I am very content and thankful for all that I have. I am rich spiritually. If He were to send me alot of money He would have me prepared as to what to do with it or who to give it to. It is not for us to keep, but to give and bless others.

All I know for sure is Christ promised us a cross to carry, a life of persecution, yet a yoke that would not be heavy, because of the treasure laid up in heaven.

That's not taught in the modern mega church at all. They'd lose all their members!

*********************
Mark 10:21
Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

Matthew 11:30
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
