Shes just in heat. If shes an older kitten then its quite normal. It'll pass usually within the week but sometimes it can go longer than that. If it is bothersome your bf might want to consider getting her fixed because some cats in heat tend to walk around and meow all of the time and just be really annoying.

I have read the other answers and some seem to be unconcerned and others very concerned. Firstly I don't think a kitten that young would be in heat. Also if it were, it wouldn't become less active as normal. It does sound like something is wrong with your kitten. To decide if you should be worried or not I think you should call the vet and speak to someone there about it. That is what I usually do and sometimes the nurse gives me advise on what I can do at home. If it is serious she will tell you to bring in the kitten to see the vet. I have to say I haven't seen this in any of my cats or kittens so I don't think it is normal and will just pass. It is better to be safe than sorry. Also, most medical problems have a better chance of being cured if attented to straight away.
