Amanda, but I mean is there basis for this..does her mom really hit her/abuse her? Or is she just very sensitive and can't stand her mom, who may just be trying to act like a parent and punish her from time to time? I mean...you must have some idea..if your parents annoy you when they punish you, you don't go overboard, I hope! So do you think your friend is really in serious trouble and being hurt at home...If yes, have your parents call Social Services or discuss this stuff with a school counselor or psychologist. And what about her dad, is he there? Any other relatives? Do not attempt any stupid stuff to make her ill, think about it:(

In any case, your friend needs help & support asap, since she's thinking of doing something to get into a hospital! Be there for her and cheer her up. Try to convince her to talk to a counselor at school. They deal with this and would know what to do.

unfortunately if she hurts herself, they will just send her to a counselor.

She needs to get proof of the beatings. Set up a nanny cam, or take pictures of the bruises. That is her best bet.

There are also hotlines she can call for abused children. She should be able to get help there.

Why doesn't she just go to social services? That would be a whole lot easier then sending herself to the hospital...

If she is considering this, it is self harm, and the next step is often suicide.

She needs help NOW!

You could try calling lifeline or simmillar and asking them. They will know the best services inyour area for intervention.

Otherwise, try the local children's services people.

Good luck, but don't let her hurt herself!

If she talks to a teacher then they will call children's aid for her, then children's aid will run an entire investigation and give the girl a better home if needed.

If she is still in school, she could tell the counselor, or a teacher, and they have to report it. If your friend is scared, she can seek help. Tell her that if it is serious, she should tell the counselor and weigh her options.
