No. You need to provide a birth certificate and social security card to the DMV to get it. Depending on your age, your parent(s) have to sign for it also.

The state of Texas does have driversed.com as an approved course for the permit, however, you will still need a course for the in-car instruction. I did Driver Ed In A Box - it has everything you need for the permit and license, its approved by TX DPS and i got an insurance discount! Check it out and good luck!

You cannot actually get the permit online, but you get a certificate that states that you passed. THen you have to make an appointment with your local Dmz then you get your drivers permit.
