It's kind of like meditation, only you're spinning. My brother locks his bedroom door when he meditates and does his yoga exercises. If it helps you relax, I don't see anything wrong with it. You're not mentally ill at all. Usually when people go for a spin, it's in their car. You just spin in your room.

It's good you're seeking help, it's a very good and honourable decision. I don't believe you're mentally ill, even if others think so because then you'd feel like you have something to blame your anger on. If your temper is indeed incredibly short then you have a very deep frustration. You don't really need a shrink to tell you that. You're technically paying someone to hear your problems. You must sort out what is making you frustrated and what triggers your outbursts. You feel guilty maybe because you also realise that you shouldn't really be angry at all. Is beating yourself your way of disciplining yourself when your parents didn't? You're attention seeking because your parents didn't look after you as much, as far as I can see. If you feel angry, I suggest a very simple exercise. When you feel that you're getting irritated. Stand still and breathe in through your nostrils and breathing out through your mouth. This is a yoga exercise while stretching so even by breathing like this it's very destressifying. It's very important you look for what triggers the outbursts btw. good Luck ^^

At 4 my older daughter began this spinning. She would be in another world.
By the time she left home we had had 6 carpets. Why?
She span in the same spot and wore holes. I just went to look at the last carpet she did this to and it bought back fond memeories. She was a wonderful teen-ager and continued spinning after marriage.
Now she has children she is too busy but one of her children has begun this spinning.
It helped her calm down and was a million times better than drugs. She could spin for hours (once I timed her for six hours non-stop and she did not get dizzy)
IMPORTANT - VERY
You are NOT mad
Look up "Whirling dervishes" (check spelling)
They are a whole huge group of Turkish people (they live in Turkey near the Mediterranean sea).
They have a religion which believes that this spinning is a VERY important religious experience. They believe one gets closer to God when you do this.
Tourists pay a fortune to see these whirling dancers .
Some of the male whirling dervishes devote their whole lives to this.
- Stop hiding
-Charge people to see you spin.
-Read up about these people.
- Even psychologists say this can be very healthy and calming
-Realise YOU may be the sane one
"The Whirling Dervishes trace their origin to the 13th century Ottoman Empire. The Dervishes, also known as the Mevlevi Order"
The Sema represents a mystical journey of man's spiritual ascent through mind and love to "Perfect." Turning towards the truth, the follower grows through love, deserts his ego, finds the truth and arrives at the "Perfect." He then returns from this spiritual journey as a man who has reached maturity and a greater perfection, so as to love and to be of service to the whole of creation." [Wikapedia]

What makes you think that this is weird? If this is how you unwind from the day and relax, then more power to you. People have so many problems today relaxing, and letting go of the world, and you have that ability. You are most certainly not mentally ill.

Keep a journal, and find a doctor that you like. You may have to meet several doctors until you find one you really like. You most likely have some type of Anxiety. Spinning gives you some relief, but that may not last forever. You may have to try different anti-anxiety medications that will help with the compulsion to "spin". You want to be able to focus your energy on creative things, and helping others. You don't want to live your life caught up with Anxiety.

You are probably OCD- Obessive Compulsive Disorder. I have it but I have learned to control it. It is just where you feel the urge to do things a certain number of times or a certain way or you think something bad may happen (these are known as rituals). You are not insane by no means. They have medication for it if you feel it is keeping you from functioning. Go to the psychologist.

That sounds o.k. to me, but if it bothers you and you think you might be, talk to a counselor who can tell if you need a referral or testing to give you peace of mind.
Maybe you can go into exercising that involves music and high intensity, like freestyle martial arts or really high impact dancing, that can help you feel relaxed after it's over and you'll see other people who do it too. And when you fantasize, write down your fantasies and keep them safe; maybe one day you can turn it into a book for other people to retreat into.

Dude Your not Crazy trust me I used to do the same thing when I was that age and heck I think that It was Carlos Mencia who said that you know said this was the first legal high. And If not Man OK it is a form of exercise which produces endorphins and endorphins make you happy remember legally blond. And bottom line as long as your not hurting any one or hurting your self or anything weird is happening then just remember man it's your life and your family loves you so you be safe and don't do anything stupid.

I don't think you are mentally ill. You are doing something that you enjoy and are not causing harm to anyone or yourself. There is nothing to be ashamed off and it sounds like it helps you unwind.
We all have our ways, I tend to order the exact same dinner a few times a week from my local diner if I am having a tough week at work. Don't worry.....

I don't think there's anything wrong with that, and nothing that you've said indicates to me that you have any type of mental illness. It's not an illogical action; as you said, you do it to unwind. It may not be a common way, but it's just your way. You don't have to share this with anyone else if you don't want to. As long as it's not interfering with your life and you're not hurting yourself or anyone else, it's probably not something you should be concerned about.
