Mormons are classified as a protesstant religion, protestant religions are an off shoot of christianity, therefore yes mormons are a christian religion..

What does one mean by "Christian"?
Christian means "follower of Christ" and Muslims,many Hindus,many Bahais, many Gnostics and other groups acknowledged as having their own religious heritage believe that they are the real followers of Christ and that they know the real Jesus.
Mormons think that they are the authentic and restored Christians and that Catholics,Protestants and Orthodox are not and that these other groups are the fruit of a great apostasy
I am convinced that the Nicene Creed is the heart of Christian belief and to reject those teachings is to be outside historic Christianity. LDS Mormonism does reject the basic teachings of Historic Christianity and is not recognized as Christian even by the liberal National Council of Churches and World CC.
Mormons are not theologically Christian,but sociologically and culturally they are since they use Biblicist language,imagery, texts and developed from a Protestant religious culture .

a better question is what is a christian? if anyone has excepted jesus christ into there heart and he becomes there personal savior and lord.then it really doesn't matter what church they attend.but to answer your question i would say that mormon teaching is a cult,apostate.the jesus of mormons and the jesus of the bible are two different jesuses.

Yes silly!!! Mormon is a nickname given us because of the Book of Mormon which is a collection of writings by ancient American prophets that was compiled by a prophet/historian named Mormon. The church is actuallycalle The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

The Mormom religion teaches about a different Jesus than the Jesus we read about in the Bible.
The Jesus in the Bible is God's only son.
The Mormon Jesus is the brother of Lucifer.
That's one of many differences.
