Hello, I am Lactose Intolerant.
Over a span of 20 years, I have tried everything.
I really know what you're going through. I've had so many accidents that I couldn't count them! And in our small town, I could tell you exactly where the public restrooms are.
I've spent a lot of money on Lactaid. BUT NOW!! I can drink regular milk. I can eat a whole pizza if I want.
I actually don't have any trouble anymore. I eat a whole plate of my favorite food....macaroni and cheese. Ice cream is no problem.
You've got to try Digestive Advantage. One small pill in the morning all by itself, with water, at least 30 min. before you eat anything else. Start out with 2 of these on the first 2 days. And from then on, 1 a day. Don't skip a day or problems will come back. This stuff has changed my life!
It's an over-the-counter purchase, no prescription is needed. Walgreen's and others have it. At Walgreens, it's on the shelf on their back wall (pharmacist would be on your right as you look for it.- - - all Walgreen's are the same layout).
To learn more, here's the Ganeden web address. Fill out the form too.
Have a nice day, Paul.

Get used to the lactaid milk. It really is worth the trouble. Trust me - I have been there and was so sick I had tons of tests done till someone mentioned to me that most people w/ multiple sclerosis (which I have) are lactose intolerant. I went home, got some lactaid brand milk and that is all I drink now and it totally solved the problem. It costs more. I know, but I don't miss the diarrhea and vomiting.

You do not really damamge your body when you do it. an intolerance is an inability to digest something properly. Being lactose intolerant and drinking milk wont give you better chances at a heart attack or anything like that. yes it will make you sick, gassy, nauseas, it can even make your puke, diahrea, and some cases, as one of my friends cases, constipated.
I would stop drinking your regular milk and try something like lactose free milk, they make these special kinds of milks because of their lactose intolerance. that way a person can still get calcium.
But i would not really say that you are permanatly damaging your internal organs or anything.
also lactaid milk and lactose free milk are two different things.
lactaid pills usually dont help, they never helped my sister or my friend, i think they are useless and a huge waste of money.
But i would say stop regular milk and try the lactose free.

I don't know if you will wreck your body, but it's not a good idea to keep eating something that makes you so sick. I do know that repeated vomiting can cause esophageal problems and decay of tooth enamel (these symptoms are seen in bulimics).

Have you thought of trying soy milk? Many of them can be used in baking and cooking just like cows' milk, and they're very good on your cereal. I'm sure with a little experimentation, you'll find a brand that's right for you. If you don't like that, there's also rice milk, almond milk, and oat milk. Or you can do a soy-rice mixture.

There aren't any long-term effects on your body if you're lactose intolerant and keep on eating dairy. If you are willing to suffer through what it does to you, then that's up to you; although I'd question why having whole milk is more important than being and feeling healthy.
