Okay so I am 15 and my mom is taking me tomorrow to go get set up an account and get a bank card so I dont have to carry around cash.. She also wanted to get me a credit card.. but I think I'm too young.. How old do you have to be?

I knew it would have to be in her name.. gahh.. Oh well I'll still get both even though my mom was ognna start helping me build up my credit.

start a checking account to get a debit card. this card is link to your checking account, so whatever amount u have in the checking account is the value of the card. this will solve the "don't have to carry around cash" issue. as for the credit card, the chances of you opening one is little since u don't have a credit history. the best way at this age is to tell your mom to open cell phone plan under your name to build credit and making sure the due payment is paid on time.

Capitalism doesn't discriminate. When you add someone to a credit card account as an additional card user, they don't ask. Your mom is actually agreeing to the loan, if you leave a balance.

I don't think you're ever too young to learn about money. I applaud your mother.

If your mother puts the card in her name and lists you as an authorized user, you could have a credit card. But I think you are indeed too young for a credit card.

you can have a savings acct with a checking acct attached. You would use a debit card from that. You are too young for a credit card i believe. Call the bank you are thinking of using. ASK them. :) doesn't hurt .. you will learn something from that.
