My credit report has been messed up for years. There are a few collections on my credit that I have cleared up and proven that they were not mine and successfully had them removed. A new debt collector buys this old account and puts it back on my report. I have paid my bills on time for over a year and have lowered my balances significantly. I have been studying and reading about improving your credit like crazy for the past year. I am sick of sending a certified letter and fighting them every few months. I believe my score should be much higher, but it has only gone up about 50-60 points. The credit agency's tell me that they do not re-score. There is a extreme difference with all three agency's and my scores. Please help. I am going to need a car loan soon, and don't want to suffer a high interest rate for a account with voice stream that was never ever mine! (they also keep changing my birthday by one year.) Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

The original date that I find in my paper work is 1999. I know about the FDCPA. When they report it the 3 agency's they report as "collection status: April 2007". I can't believe that these dirt bags can get away with this!

They cant "re-score".

YOur credit score is a dynamic number that constantly changes based on what is on your credit report. All you can do is get the info on your report correct. If a new debt collector purchased the debt, send him the information you got from the last debt collector saying the acknowledge it is not valid.

You have to keep it up to get any wrong information off the report. If you are a victim of ID theft, you need a police report.

Dont get a car loan... save the money and pay cash.

Have you disputed this re-appearing account with the credit bureau? Try sending copies of the previous go round and tell them this is still not yours.

Unfortunately you are probably going to have to send the new collection company copies of the correspondence that this isn't yours. They will sell it off and you'll get it again.

How old is this debt? If the charge off date is over 7 years, tehy shouldn't be able to re-age it and put it back on your report.

Write a letter stating your intent to sue to the 3 big credit reporting companies for violating your rights under the FCRA If you must take them to small claims court and sue them
