Due to US Child Labor Laws, you cannot be traditionally employed at the age of 14, unless you're working for a parent.

However, there are lots of jobs you CAN do. You can do lawn maintenance, wash cars, babysit, clean houses (which pays VERY well), or even tutor other kids... if you're a good student.

You'll make your own schedule and set your own fees. This will work well after school starts later this month.Network with your friends, family, and neighbors, and you'll be making money in no time.

If you want more ideas, there are a couple of books you can read. Try Fast Cash for Kids or A Smart Girls Guide to Money (which my daugther LOVED).

Hi
Most people would love to be rich. But having a lot of money isn't the whole formula. You also need to have health and free time in order to really enjoy life. After all, what's the point of having a lot of money if you have to work long hard hours every day or neglect your health, your loved ones, and your personal enjoyment to get it?

just get a job at a local donut shop or coffee shop, they sometimes give jobs to kids around your age.
just go in to someplace you feel you'd like to work and ask them how old you have to be to apply, if they say 14 is alright, take an application and hope you get the job.

as for a career when you get older.. you probably have no clue what you want to be at this age(i'm 16, and i have no clue for myself! hah), in the next few years you'll get to know yourself more and eventually find a career for you. also in high school teachers and guidance councilors at your school can help you out. good luck!

babysit, wash cars, mow lawns, pull weeds, do chores for elderly neighbors/relatives.

Not sure what you should be. A manager at some company? A business owner?
