That is a good question! I also teach a sunday school class ages 4th through 6th grade and I often want new ideas- we just read scripture by scripture and talk about it and explain it, trying to show them how to apply it to their own lives.
I was given a sheet of fun games, that include bible verses and such-- but there was no website name on it- Try this website www.icr.org and search for what you are looking for- this is an awesome christian website- ALSO try www.livingwaters.com --Also good for tracts and bibles and ideas.

Not all of the Bible is suitable for young people, but it shouldn't be watered down to make it so. It is best to teach the parts that are more readily understandable and less controversial like selections from Proverbs, Psalms, the Pastoral Epistles, St. Luke and Acts, Exodus, Ruth, and such like. Address questions openly rather than giving misinformation which may call everything you're teaching into question once it gets a fuller reading later. The Bible is not science, and its views of history are radically different from our modern views. It is some of the world's greatest literature, and should be appreciated for its own beauty. Focus on the things which are most important to faith and everyday life. Who is Jesus? Why do we do certain things and not others?
Below are some resources. I think Augsburg Press does the best curriculum, although many like David C. Cook or Standard Publishing.

Christian Book stores have a section with studies for children, and have fun things, too! Check it out! I also used to teach Sunday School (kindergarten thru 2nd grade) Loved it!!! God Bless!!
I think if you just type in Children's Christian crafts or something, you will get a page with a bunch of websites for that.

I worked in childrens church a few times & they would reward the little ones who could answer a question w/ a piece of candy. they were so cute, they would answer it in their own words,
the lessons were always pretty simple it was with the little ones.
then after that we'd do painting, making their own hand prints out of clay, & stuff, they were a little messy sometimes but it was worth it.
& the class I taught w/the jr high kids, we had class perticipatioin, like if they wanted to ask quesions, or make a comment, they could, & we always started out w/a few mnites of letting them jjust talk, they needed someone to listen.
God Bless you.

That's such an age gap, but most kids love making things so crafts is the best bet.

my mom studied the Bible with my brother and sister and i when we were kids. Some stuff she did was pretty cool. One of my favorites was one time we made the temple out of popsicle sticks. we made it to scale so that meant we had to study it pretty well. you could also make something like Noah's ark, or the city of Jeruselem...

I haven't taught the Bible to children for a long time, but I want to say that I think you're AWESOME!! Just the fact that you want to make it more enjoyable and easier for them to learn is wonderful!!
Blessings to you!!

Show them all the bad stuff instead of just good stuff. Read the entire Bible with them. They'll see that it's rubbish.
