my 2 year old chihuahua crapped today and it was as black as tar and the consistency of chewed bubblegum. we have not changed his diet lately. are there any canine illnesses that might cause this?

Could be small intestine bleeding or it might be that he has an intestinal infection or whatever that makes the fat content of the stools increase. I'd at least call your vet or bring in a fresh sample for analysis.

"Black poop" interior the early days is meconium. that must be long previous interior some days. Black poop in an older little one must be so basic as too lots iron in his formula, or as worrisome as inner bleeding. i'd run it previous his scientific professional. The rash would be a reaction to the formula. Is there some pressing reason you should be supplementing?

Take a fresh stool sample and get it to the vet ASAP! Black stool can implicate intestinal bleeding. This could be something very very serious. Please take your dog to the vet along with a stool sample. Intestinal bleeding will usually produce very dark or nearly black feces.

Maybe someone fed her licorice or candy. Black stool otherwise could mean internal bleeding so take her to the Vet.

Black tarry stool is an indication of digested blood. You really should have him checked out asap!

This doesnt sound good at all. I would get a stool sample (meaning take a sample of his "crap") and take it to the vet with you so he can examine it.

Please do this immediately.
