For each 1 teaspoon baking powder called for in a recipe, use:

1/4 teaspoon baking soda plus 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar;

OR

1/4 teaspoon baking soda plus 1/2 cup buttermilk, sour cream or yogurt (to replace 1/2 cup liquid called for in recipe).

It depends upon the other ingredients in the recipe. You might be able to use 2 parts baking soda and 1 part cream of tartar in place of the baking powder.

eh there really isnt a subsitute for baking powder sorry :( if there is flour in the recipe, try using "self rising flour " instead of the original flour you used. it contains a small amout of baking soda and powder
