I was a Southern Baptist but I'm now non-denominational. The following verses talk about assembling with others to worship God.
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
1Co 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
1Co 12:25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
1Co 12:26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honored, all the members rejoice with it.
1Co 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
Remember though that the early Church met in homes:
Rom 16:5 Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Salute my well-beloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ.
1Co 16:19 The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla salute you much in the Lord, with the church that is in their house.
Col 4:15 Salute the brethren which are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church which is in his house.
Phm 1:2 And to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellow soldier, and to the church in thy house:
What you can do is invite believers to your home for some fellowship or go to anothers house to worship. Remember what Jesus said:
Mat 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Peace be with you

Yes, absolutely!! You are completely right!! There is so much confusion in the world today…people are forming different denominations and different creeds about the Bible and they are not all Biblical. I attend a non-denominational church, but if the church doesn’t teach the truth of the word of God, then how can we be edified? I agree with u wholeheartedly! We as Christians should use the Word of God as our only focus…and not our own interpretation of it…that’s why I wondered why there were so many different denominations in the world…so who’s right? Who has the real truth? And yet everyone says they’re right and they’ve all got the truth!! So we need to find out direct from the Word of God. I still think is very important to attend a non-denominational church for edification; however, if they are not teaching the word of God, it will be a hindrance to you rather than edification! So if all the churches around u aren’t teaching the truth of the Word of God, I personally wouldn’t attend that church – but if there is a church that is preaching God’s Word and are using the Holy Spirit as their source of interpretation for the Bible and not their own interpretation, then u should definitely go!! Because the meeting of the church is for edification…..God Bless! <3 xxoo

I attend a non-denominational fellowship. A house church (I assume that's what you mean by "the sanction[sic] of your own home" is fine. The bottom line is that it's important to spend time with other believers, in order to stay strong in our faith.
And while you can say "religion is man made", that doesn't take away the need of our fellowshipping together. We can study the Bible together and grow and learn that way. That isn't the same as the liturgical church service that you apparently don't like, and it's very important to know God's Word.

The church was made for man, man was not made for church. I am non-denominational as well. Church just helps by surrounding you with like minded individuals. I take issue with those that go to church and while they are there they are busy gossiping about whats her name in the pew three rows up. People are people and they don't all change.
I guess what I am trying to say is that there are others with your beliefs and values and you can surround yourself with those people without the building because that is what a church is, a building.

In Genesis 1:4, God saw that light was good. But, in Gen 9:13, it appears that God suddenly realized light wasn't good enough. Because it didn't refract through water droplets, into the spectrum commonly known as the rainbow. So He changed the physical properties of light, from what they had been, in the centuries between GEN 1 and GEN 9, to what, if He had been doing his job right, they would have been in the first place, which is what they are now. With all due respect, other than cutting Him some slack because GEN 1 was His first day on the job, how do Bible Believers smooth over the jarring conflict between what light was, and what light now is?

The reason for church is that you can share your knowledge with others. You have gifts that God has given to you that other people need. You can encourage someone who is down also. You are an important part of God's people and you are needed not only out in the world to minister, but to minister to your brother's and sisters.

You sound almost just like me....... I was even Baptized in my own home....... long story........ anyway, I know going to the church house is important for a lot of people, and that is OK....... I know there are those who with all faith believe they need the church house and its brothers and sisters, and that is OK too....... The church house , its people I should say, are to edify and keep the faith strong....... but, I too, like you also know that Gods message has gotten a little bit side tracked............ go in peace......... God bless

I am. I grew up Methodist but have attended Baptist and Presbyterian Churches. I do not adhere to the particular beliefs of any specific denomination.
I think you are right on target. I attend church, but I don't go every single week. I think it is more important that I live my faith all during the week. Now, it does bring me comfort and strength to attend SOMETIMES, but I often get recharged just by swimming or by being alone to think, pray, meditate, or whatever.
Thanks for this question! have a great weekend!

We are not suppose to be divided..and yes it is for the benefit of every believer to come together as one...the "church" is the body of Christ and we are all given gifts essential to each other...besides going to church to worship we are to be in fellowship and as the bible says As you see "the day" approaching all the more...because we need each other..to help each other in our weakness and to have corporate prayer. No, going to church is not necessary for salvation, salvation never depends on our works, but our works follow salvation...God has things for us all to do with and for each other...you might have the gift of hospitality and I might have the gift of serving and we are suppose to come together as one body (a community) and serve those around us inside and outside. I can give you several scriptures to back all these statements up and Yes I am Non denominational...but currently I serve at a Nazarene Church.

Sounds like good logic to me. I think that is what non denominational churches are about, not living by man made religion. I have been everything and finally realized it is Jesus that I need to please not man. Scripture says, never to forsake the assembly of the body which means you should attend church. Pray and ask God where you should go. He will lead you. To Love is one of his greatest commandments.
