im not looking for a picture of a dog ''smiling'', i just want to know if dogs can really control there facial expressions and can honestly and truely smile. Maybe a dog expert or psicologist can help me, 'cause i can't get a straight answer.

Yes they sure can. Not all dogs it seems....we have four Shelties and only one of the four actually has different expressions all the time. YES he smiles and looks like he is actually LAUGHING at us. We have taken many pictures and everyone is always laughing at him....and we do believe he is laughing back. LOL

My family once owned a dog that smiled when I was a kid....every time you talked to her in a happy voice, she would wag her tail and show her teeth...it was the cutest thing I ever saw. Since then, I have met a few dogs that smile like this...if you don't know the dog, you are not quite sure if they are mad or happy...but the wagging tail usually gives it away. I think it is a very special trait and is not seen in many dogs. I would just love to own a dog that smiled like my little dog, Eloise again. :)

When a dog run ups to you and jumps because he or she is glad to see you, you will see a special look on its face -- that doggy smile says it all. They show their love very easily, and their facial expression says it all -- a smile of unconditional love.

I don't know if it's smiling per say, but i groom a bichon , and every time he comes in, im like hi "trouble" (which is his name) and he always looks like he smile's, kinda a little quirk he has.. His lips go back and you can see his teeth, but it is nothing aggressive at all, no matter what you do to him, if you talk to him, put him on your table and play with him, he always does this. We always tell dad when he picks him up we "love that trouble smile"...

my dog has two smiles, one is just a happy face where it looks like he is smiling because he is so happy (but could be that he is just hot and tryingto cool down, , the other is an actual smile, he only does it right when we get home from work, he bears his teeth, and wiggles like a worm all while smiling ear to ear and snorting,, he is a puggle, very smart lil buddy

properly i've got faith that canines do tutor many thoughts and react to situations in certainly one of those procedures. As with human beings some canines are extra intense in nature on an identical time as different canines tend to be carefree and happy. i think you will merely could desire to provide it a try. Smile at your canine and see if he does not smile back. by way of fact the previous adage is going "frown and you frown on my own, smile and the entire worldwide smiles with you!" constantly undergo in suggestions that your connection which contain your canine is unique so in case you think that your canine is smiling at you do no longer enable that concept be shaken by skill of something or anybody. yet don't be upset in case you in no way see your canine smile, merely undergo in suggestions that in case you tutor him love, he will respond to your love interior the excellent way that he can.

yes, when a dog is happy you can tell by its tail wagging and its facial features its mouth is more upward in a smiling behavior if you look at a dogs face when its happy and then see one when it is mad you can see in its mouth structure, my mini has a more gental curve to his mouth happy and a scowl of his lips just minimal to a small smile when unhappy.
